Nixon Family Vacationed In Delray

Readers: The two November columns on sitting presidents visiting Palm Beach County prompted one reader to remind me that Richard Nixon had, in fact, flown to Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago while president.
I’ve since received a note from Barbara Louise Gellner, former president of the Delray Beach Historical Society.
“President Nixon (before he was president) and his family vacationed many years earlier in Delray Beach. (Car dealer) Earl Wallace even loaned him a convertible to drive around town,” Ms. Gellner wrote. “I hope you will make the correction in your column, as printed errors can alter the truth in
history.”
Well, actually, it’s not an error, since I was specifically discussing visits by sitting presidents. But I’m happy to make the notation, Ms. Geller. Thanks for the heads-up!
