Freddie Stebbins Jefferson
Freddie Stebbins Jefferson, was a former high school and college teacher who became the first black woman editorial board member for The Palm Beach Post and a columnist known for her outspoken views on race relations. Jefferson was born and raised in Arcadia and moved to Palm Beach County in 1957, when she took a job at Lake Shore High School in Belle Glade. She also taught at John F. Kennedy High School and Lake Worth High School, and later at Palm Beach Community College from the mid-1970s through the mid-1990s. She died in 2007.
