Our history in photos: Fishing

Not to gloat or anything.

The caption on this photo on the front page of The Palm Beach Post, on Dec. 27, 1962:
“Fishing was a cold proposition over much of the nation yesterday, but not in the Palm Beaches. At top, just to show the difference, Jim Ferrara, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Ferrara of West Palm Beach, was snapped by Post photographer Bill Allison in appropriate dress for fishing at the Palm Beach pier. Equally appropriately dressed for their fishing are these Madison, Wis., fisherman shown at bottom in a UPI photo taking bluegills from the frozen-over waters of Lake Mendota. The thermometer there dipped down to a knuckle-cracking 22 degrees below zero. Downtown West Palm Beach experienced a balmy 81 degrees.”
